Quieres Comer?

English Way Below!
Hola otra vez!

Esta semana, no he querido comer nada.

Me gusta mucho correr a mi cama.

Nunca. Me oyes? Bueno.

Hey Again,

In the week that I've been here, I've put my parents through a food saga. I basically hate everything they give me. I'll like something for about 3 minutes, but then I never want that food again. I have most enjoyed the kibbles they have here, but I have no teeth and it's hard to eat them. But this morning, my people were making pancakes and they smelled soooo good. I just wanted one so badly! So, my mom gave me a little bit of pancake and I loved it.

She knows that people food isn't really good for me, so she must really love me because she used the food processor to blend up my kibbles in a flour, which she then turned into a pancake. I ate it so fast! I could get used to a lifetime of pancakes (although I have a feeling they're going to try and ween me into some more natural form of dog food)...but really, my life's goal is to grow up and be fat.

Pancakes would be great for that.

Oh, today...I got another bath. I smell like peppermint...
I don't really like bathing, the water hose they use - despite being nice, warm water - makes me a little nervous. However, I am a big fan of being lathered up in soap. After my bath was over, I ran around the house super happy and crazy, and then threw all my toys, ate a little bit, tried to play with my cats and then .....

I barked for the first time (and only time).

My people are taking this to mean that I'm comfortable here...but I don't want them to think I'm too comfortable...then they might stop spoiling me. I can't take any chances, which is why I do super cute things like playing games with my mama.

Today's favorite game has been following her wherever she goes, and then when she turns around I run really really fast back to my bed. Also, she wanted to play hide and seek with me today...and so I'd come find her, and then when I did I'd get scared and run really, really fast back to my bed. I think the game I actually like to play is "run back to the bed as fast as I can."

I still haven't managed to use the bathroom outside. They keep trying, but I keep refusing. They've concocted a new plan...and I'm afraid it might work. But can you blame me for resisting? I never, ever want to use the bathroom in the snow. Ever. Would you?

Also, today...I sent a photo of myself to my Oaxacan boyfriend, Bali.

Until tomorrow,

Rosa.

Play Day

All the awesome things Rosa has been up to today, in list form:

1. Playing, playing, playing. Jugar, jugar, jugar. She plays with the toys in her bed, she looks at you like she wants to play and then runs away. Today has been a very playful day!

2. Eating her food. Also - despite the fact that she's missing half her teeth, she prefers kibbles to wet food.

3. Cuddling with a specific stuffed monster as if it is her own puppy. She picked this ugly monster, and she just loves it. She cuddles it, carries it, hides it. It's her little monster.

4. Snoring and sleeping and snoring. Rosita likes to sleep, and when she sleeps deeply...she snores. It's awesome (and super cuuuute). También, Rosa ronca! Rosa duerma, ronca, duerma otra vez...y mientras está durmiendo...está roncando. Es demasiado liiiindo.

And now for a photo (notice the monster-baby):

Rosa the Explorer.

Rosa's morning wasn't a very good one. She didn't want to eat, she didn't want to come out of the confines of her kennel. She didn't want to explore. She just wanted to hide.

And she hadn't eaten in almost a day, and hadn't used the bathroom by 12. Since she has had a slight infection, this worried me greatly. With the help of the rescue and a friend, I was able to get her in to the vet.

This funny dog loves the car.
This funny dog loves the vet!

When we got there, she acted like nothing was wrong. Of course. The vet felt around and decided that she may have a small gut infection/issues with digestion because of her surgery (her spay was coupled with a hernia surgery), and the antibiotics which kill the good bacteria.

She's on a medicated food now, with a probiotic.
She finally used the bathroom, too.

But here's all the real good news: when we came home from the vet, Rosa was in such a good mood she bursted from her kennel as soon as the door opened. With her tail wagging at full speed, she trotted all around the apartment - greeted the cats, smelled everything, climbed behind and over things.

She even will look if you call her name, but she won't come over to you. That's a trust thing, and we'll get there.

For now, she's very comfortable in her new home. She's decided to claim it as her own, and that is a huge success. And the vet gave her a pedicure...so she's had a great day.

Oh, and she has not 1...not 2...but 3 new toys which she cuddles with in her kennel (the kennel top is no longer on, so it's more like a bed).

It's only been a few days, but she's progressing in leaps and bounds!
Here are the things that we need the most work on:
[ ] trust of humans - as in not being so hand shy, and approaching us as opposed to us approaching her (although right now she's totally spooning my leg while we chill on the couch). She also won't eat if human beings are in the room with her. The cats, though? No probs.

[ ] house breaking - she uses the piddle pads consistently...no off-piddle-pad-accidents...but the outdoors are cold and new and different and distracting, and she's not totally sure she wants to do her business out there yet.

Otherwise, she's great and not giving me much to write about!
She did want me to post her pictures for you guys (and a video, too). She does enjoy having her photo taken. See below for photo documentation of Rosa's adventures today.

Rosa the explorer!

No quería explorar...solo quería esconderse.
